What are the Red Lobster Restaurants?

The Red Lobster Restaurant is an American chain of seafood restaurants, and it focuses on the casual diners, families and seafood lovers. The Red Lobster menu specializes in seafood dishes, but also includes  non-seafood entrees,plus salads and various desserts.

Red Lobster was founded in 1968 by Bill Darden and Charley Woodsby and it now operates nearly 700 Red Lobster locations throughout the United States, plus various restaurants in Canada  and Japan.

The first restaurant was named a “Harbor for Seafood Lovers”, but this and 4 others were bought by General Mills  in 1970 and the company expanded rapidly into the late 1980s.

Red Lobster is now part of Darden Restaurants,  which is a publicly traded corporation.

Red Lobster twice offered an endless snow crab leg promotion, but this stopped when the company lost 3 million$ on the promotion. From then on, the chain has offered an endless shrimp promotion every year to the delight of happy customers.

RED LOBSTER MENU 2012:

The Red Lobster menu changes rapidly, but the mainstay favourites, such as lobsters, crabs and shrimp will of course always stay. The company has gained its fame on the back of these traditional seafoods, and this is unlike to change, fortunately for seafood lovers.

The company also recently announced  th, septemper 2011, that it is cutting calories and sodium in all of its Red Lobster restaurants, and will be offering more healthful choices on its’ menus for kids.

The only problem is that the menu changes from restaurant to restaurant, so you need to enter your locality first, before you can view a menu. And then the menu is spread out over 7 different pages, so it can be a little time-consuming.
